Greek Honey Dumplings – Loukoumades, gluten-free

The autumnal and winter atmosphere is perfectly complemented by loukoumades!

I think it’s a perfect delight, especially when accompanied by honey and cinnamon.

Ingredients

  • 500 g bread flour (gluten-free)
  • 10 g dry yeast
  • 400 g warm water
  • 2 egg whites
  • some salt
  • 1 teaspoon brown sugar
  • olive oil for frying (you can use any vegetable oil for frying you like)

Method

In a large bowl, add the flour, salt and egg whites.

Warm the water and dissolve in it the yeast and sugar.
Add them in the bowl with the flour.

Mix with a silicone spatula or a spoon until it becomes a thick porridge-like mixture. If the mixture is very thick add some more water.

Let it rise for at least 1 hour.

In a small-diameter saucepan heat the olive oil and start frying by using two spoons to from the dumplings.

When they are golden remove them from the saucepan and place them in kitchen towel to drain the oil.

Ready!!!

My children enjoy them mainly with peanut butter. A classic combination of honey and cinnamon and anyone who has even more cravings
can enjoy them with melted chocolate! Whatever you choose is great.
